Before exploring further with all the uses of Wikipedia now in this class beforehand, I used to look at Wikipedia as an untrusted source for information where people included any types of data that they want whether it be factual or not. Because of this, lots of my teachers from high school and even before that, I have suggested not to use this, as it can be a form of cheating or misuse of data and resources. Even siding, Wikipedia could take lots of points from essays because of its lack of credibility due to certain scandals or mistakes. I used to use Wikipedia as a source for basic information though just to use common sense types of knowledge. The things I would look for usually consisted of full name, date of birth, date of death if there is one, place of schooling, and possibly what the person, place or thing is known for. I thought Wikipedia to be a helpful source for small basic information that everyone would know compared to things that have to do with situational reporting or quoting. I used to refrain from doing any research or tracking any information from Wikipedia that had to do with talking about a situation and the timeline of what happened because I’ve heard that lots of these things can be wrong due to other edits added to Wikipedia but overall I find a Wikipedia can be helpful in certain ways, even though it might not be completely trusted as a whole and this reflects how I used Wikipedia before starting the project in this class pages.
