After having a conversation about Wikipedia earlier in class, it made me think about one of my classes I have now, which is called management information systems. Management information systems is a field that sits at the intersection of business technology and people, and is designed to collect, process and analyze data organization to improve decision-making and protect whatever is assigned to. I think that management information systems could help Wikipedia in the past and now by providing structured analytical tools, more organized data, and automated processes necessary to manage. It’s massively decentralized in volunteer driven operations. With MIS it can detect any vandalism and misinformation, it can operate efficiently and control the quality of data uploaded, and a construct of the data information to be unbiased by detecting any language or information that might have biased opinion. Overall, I thought this connection would be somewhat significant to point out since it’s something that connects from both of the classes I take!
