Data Collection

So far through the process of my McDonald’s digital humanities project I’ve collected data on a specific McDonald’s burger that has been around since 1967 which is now known as the Big Mac. I decided to simplify my search just because McDonald’s has such a wide range of hamburgers and cheeseburgers that it would be hard to collect all the data about their evolution compared to just one item throughout a singular timeline. So far I’ve used an Excel sheet to express the type of burger and year and then go over all of its nutritional facts provided by PDF document and the McDonald’s website. So far the process has been pretty enjoyable because it’s funny and interesting to learn more about these very popular foods, but it also has been a bit tedious information through the Excel sheets when it’s not as simple as just copy and paste it and you have to type it all in. I don’t really know if ChatGPT can help me gather this information correctly just because some of the PDF source material doesn’t match the nutritional fact information ChatGPT provided me with. So far my point about how the burgers are getting unhealthier overtime is being proved but so far I only have three dates collected which is 2015, 2020, and 2026. I have collected three burgers out of my goal of 10 so I would say I’m about 30% done with my main collection of information. I also plan to gather the American obesity percentage rates during the same years, which won’t take too long either. to complete my production plan is to get all of the burger nutritional facts completed before next Monday and have the American obesity rate collected on Monday. I finished by treating it like homework and making sure that all of my information is organized neatly incorrectly to be further visualized for the project. I understand that this is the base to everything so I need to make sure I put in a good amount of detail analysis and overall general data.
